Overview
The Baton Rouge corporate office is seeking a skilled professional, experienced with E&I project estimating, including preparation of complex proposals, detailed material take-offs and conceptual cost estimates.  Requires detailed knowledge of industrial E&I construction, ability to read and interpret contracts, specifications, P&ID’s, electrical one-lines, plan drawings, installation details, safety rules, and project execution requirements.
 
Duties:
  • Prepare estimates and utilizing estimating software.
  • Read specifications and review plans.
  • Perform quantity survey.
  • Apply labor units, material prices, and equipment prices.
  • Prepare RFQ’s, review and negotiate subcontract pricing.
  • Prepare estimate cost summaries.
  • Review estimate with management.
  • Prepare, submit, and follow-up proposal.
  • Assist in training new Estimators.
  • Discuss and determine bidding strategy.
  • Research and develop project leads.
  • Review labor units with Construction representatives.
  • Review and analyze costs with company’s enterprise software.
  • Maintain proficiency in construction methods by periodic site visits.
  • Assist Construction in performing bid vs construction reviews.
  • Assist Construction in performing budget estimates.
  • Ability to create basic cost tracking and project schedules.
  • Develop and maintain client relations.
     
Requirements:
  • Integrity in dealing with other associates and third parties.
  • Ability to work with other personalities in Department and Company.
  • Bachelors of science degree in engineering, construction management or similar technical field of expertise with two (2) years electrical and/or instrument field experience; or five (5) to ten (10) years experience in the electrical and instrumentation industry.
  • 2+ years of estimating experience with emphasis on electrical and instrumentation work.
  • Good writing, math, and computer skills.
  • Good personal hygiene and appearance.
  • Maintain current specific safety orientations, OSHA and TWIC certifications.
 
Functional Requirements:
  • Occasionally may conduct or participate in a site visit to an operating plant or construction site.  This may require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, and work near moving parts, construction equipment, vibration, uneven footing and airborne particles. This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, crouch, reach, climb and balance, clear vision, and the ability to focus.  The use of personal protection safety equipment will be required.
  • Some travel within the Gulf Coast area required.
